Your Memories
Writings On This Wall

They went away young and came back very old
It seemed so unreal the stories they told
But to those who had been there so far away
The horror was not from day to day
Brother and uncles and fathers were sent
Their families’ prayers with them wherever they went

Warriors in places that were never seen
Some say in places they shouldn’t have been
They went to help others not knowing their fate
But death took its toll; it just wouldn’t wait

A wall was erected, a memorial place
It gave them a name without knowing their face
Many will come, to stop and stare
Some didn’t know them; some didn’t care

But to those who loved them their memory was clear
They’ll never forget the ones they held dear
Those who came home were not heroes to all
Those who did not, got their names on the wall.
